James Millar

James Millar is an actor and writer.

James trained at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, (Performance)  and The University of Sydney (Communication: Writing).

You may know him from such productions as: Matilda the Musical; Noel and Gertie; Chess (UK Tour); The Ring Cycle (Royal Opera House, Covent Gardens), Martin Short Live (Sydney Opera House), Grey Gardens (The Production Company), 

LoveBites, BoyBand and Floyd Collins. 

He is the writer of Lovebites, The Hatpin and A Little Touch of Chaos and his directing credits include Urinetown and Assassins (WAAPA). 

Awards? He’s got ’em: Helpmann Award (Winner Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Matilda); Sydney Theatre Award (for same); Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actor; Short and Sweet Festival Award for Best ActorSydney Theatre Award for Best Cabaret. He’s also the inaugural Sydney Cabaret Showcase Award Winner. 

Having recently finished a three year stint with Matilda, he is now working on the libretto and lyrics for a musical adaptation of an Australian classic.
