Giles Gartrell-Mills

Artist, Writer

Giles is an actor, writer and director living in Sydney.

Originally from the UK, Giles trained at the Oxford School of Drama. In 2007 Giles directed Caligula at the Union Theatre in London. Since then his work has inadvertently often taken a macabre tone, with follow up productions of Jekyll & Hyde, The Dark and Cavernous Walls and Sweeney Todd.

In 2008/9 Giles was resident director at the Union Theatre. In 2013 he moved to Sydney and continued to work as an actor, writer and director.

Previously Giles’ short play Pallbearings produced at the Rosemary Branch Theatre in London. Mercutio and the Prince of Cats is Giles’ first full-length play.

In 2019 Giles formed Scrappy Assembly with partner Bishanyia Vincent to give a platform for both of their creativities. It is named in honour of their love of rescue animals, of which they invariably have several.
