What the Butler Saw

Date: 31 Aug 2018

Dr. Prentice, a psychiatric doctor in an exclusive private clinic, is attempting to interview (and seduce) an attractive would-be secretary, Geraldine.

Unwittingly surprised by his wife, he hides the girl. The affairs multiply as Mrs. Prentice, being seduced and blackmailed by young bellhop Nicholas Beckett, has promised him the secretarial post. When a government inspector arrives, chaos, underpants, and cross-dressing lead the charge.

Joe Orton’s farce lays out a smorgasbord of politically-incorrect taboos in deliberately bad taste, attacking society’s hypocrisy and the established order with his delicious brand of outrageous and subversive provocation.

Danielle Maas directs on a Tobias Manderson-Galvin design. Madeleine Carr, Jake Fryer-Hornsby, Andrew Guy, Martin Quinn, Ariadne Sgouros and Amrik Tumber feature.
