As the arts community begins to grapple with the magnitude of the COVID-19 crisis, Sydney Theatre Company has cancelled a number of upcoming productions in its 2020 season.
STC’s productions of Triple X; Home, I’m Darling, and The 7 Stages of Grieving have now been shelved.
“We are so very saddened to lose these shows, all of which we believe in so deeply,” wrote Artistic Director Kip Williams and Executive Director Patrick McIntyre in a release to the public on March 19.
“Please know, we are doing all we can to ensure these works return to our stages in the future, so that audiences can experience the brilliant work of our artists, crews, and craftspeople. It goes without saying, however, that the health and wellbeing of our audience, employees and the community at large is and always will be our first priority.”
STC is contacting ticket holders for all affected performances regarding their options for refund, credit, or a tax-deductible donation of your ticket cost.
“We are incredibly grateful to our patrons who have already chosen to donate their cancelled No Pay? No Way! tickets back to us – already 28% of ticket holders have chosen to do so. Generosity like this, and any further donations from our loyal community, will be essential to mitigate the impact of this unprecedented crisis.”
