SSHIFTT

Date: 7 May 2019

Karul Projects presents an exploration into the practice of shapeshifting in a cultural and Western context in a new work, SSHIFTT.

Shapeshifting is the metamorphosis of a person into an animal or other form. SSHIFTT examines the way the western world views shapeshifting as part of a sci-fi reality and distant future, despite the tradition being practiced in various native cultures for many years.

SSHIFTT is a fun work where we get to explore what it’s like to be animals, in a cultural context and a western context,” says choreographer and performer Thomas E.S. Kelly.

“Evolving from what was SHIFTING SHAPES from 2017, it’s bigger and better. I’m really excited by what we’ve been planning for this work and, because it’s still evolving up until the stage, I’m excited to see where we get to.”
