Silly to Think

Date: 3 May 2021

It has been eight, no, nine hundred thousand years, but at long last here falls Aphrodite.

She falls not from heaven to earth, nor earth to hell either, she falls further into a deep, dark, abysmal place.

With no more than two jaded fishermen and a super depressed seagull plonked on a jetty to keep her company, Aphy launches an interrogation into the absurdity of her own existence, begging us all to consider ‘who are we exactly when we exist in total darkness?’.

Witness time and space dissolve as Aphy learns to control the reality of the world around her, summoning destructive tsunamis and sea storms to wash away those who are threatened by her existence.

In a pandemic world under the Morrison government, Silly to Think exposes female oppression in the Absurdist form. At long last it is time to interrogate the absurdity of the conception of ‘woman’ as created by men and ask, ‘what happens when one escapes this definition and can we?’
