The world’s biggest little play festival turns 18 this year.
This year’s line-up is made up of two programs that change each week including a slew of local, regional, interstate and international entries.
Short+Sweet has spread the popular 10-minute format in theatre, dance, cabaret and comedy across Australia and the globe with festivals as far afield as India, Malaysia, Dubai, NZ and Hollywood, California.
The 2019 fest will again feature judges’ voting and the People’s Choice audience votes – all heading for the April Gala Finals.
Saturday night (April 27) will be judged by a panel of industry professionals, whose awards will be announced and presented after the Sunday 28 April performance.
In the mix are Emmy-winning US Sitcom writer Ken Levine’s hit from Short+Sweet Hollywood, Avocado Toast; Riding the Clutch by Central Coast playwright Sally Batley; Boyfriend 2.0 by veteran writer/director Paulene Turner; Festival regular Ruth Fingret’s Your Call is Important; A Soldier’s Testimony by Sydney writer Paul Bowman; Margot’s Bench by Lindsey Brown (NZ) and Surprise! by Mark Harvey Levine (US) the story of a psychic with the annoying gift of seeing only 2 minutess into the future.
