Written by Barry Lowe and first seen in 1993Relative Merits explores the consequences of the outing Adam, a high profile footballer, and the conflicted feelings experienced by his 19-year-old brother Clay, who has rocked up to Adam’s place unannounced after a long period of estrangement.

Focused on Clay’s small town bigotry, Relative Merits is the story of a young man’s enlightenment.

Written as a vehicle to showcase the talents of a very young David Campbell, Relative Merits went on to tour nationally followed by a further life as a theatre-in-education staple. This production, directed by Porter James, features Sam Welsh and Isaac Broadbent.
