Based on the life and experiences of Australia’s most iconic bushranger, Ned explores Ned Kelly’s turbulent life and the events which led to his demise.
Set in rural Victoria in the late 1800s, it charts Ned Kelly’s transformation from local hero to a cold-blooded criminal. When his mother, Ellen Kelly, is unjustly convicted of attempting to murder a policeman, Ned, his brother Dan, and their two friends Joe Byrne and Steve Hart flee into the bush to avoid their own arrests by the corrupt police force. They are soon outlawed and vilified as the feared ‘Kelly Gang’, and are to be caught at any cost – dead or alive. But swearing that their “orders must be obeyed”, the gang takes their final, and ultimately fatal, stand against the police.
Josh McElroy is Ned Kelly, with Jodie Harris as the Kelly family matriarch, Ellen. Marcus Rivera embodies early Australian law and order through his portrayal of Superintendent Hare.
