Date: 20 Jan 2019

Conceived during an ultra-competitive all-night Monopoly game and inspired the brinkmanship it generated, Steven Hopley’s new play puts Sydney’s property market under the microscope and zooms in on millennial hopes and dreams.

“It’s a game I love playing,” said Hopley, “But it doesn’t exactly bring out the best in me, as my friends and family will tell you. The game is a perfect distillation of capitalism, so I wanted to tap into that on stage.”

Five friends gather at a harbourside apartment for a night of Monopoly. But when the newest player suggests that they play with real money, the competition heats up – and threatens to change their lives forever.

This Monday nights-only show features Jasper Garner Gore, Benjamin Kuryo, Alison Lee Rubie, Emilia Stubbs Grigoriou and Danen Young.
