Me and My Mother, Singing

Date: 8 Feb 2020

Oleg Pupovac presents a funny and tender one-man show that uses storytelling, poetry, multimedia and performance to tell a trilingual story.

Drawing inspiration from the countries he grew up in, with text performed in English, Serbo-Croatian and Arabic (with translations), it is a story that couldn’t be told without his mother, singing.

Me and My Mother, Singing presents a narrative that weaves together past and present, fact and fabrication to create a powerful work that gently explores the construction of memory and the trauma of conflict.

Pupovac’s incisive solo performance deftly transports us across moments and places, using interruption, levity and folk song to convey a deeply felt story about the persistence of loss.
