Revived for a short Sydney Festival season, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Tony-winning Broadway hit takes its audience in the Washington Heights district of New York City.

Our narrator is Usnavi, a first generation Dominican-American and owner of a corner bodega who, like everyone else in the ‘hood, is struggling under the pressure of rising rents and closing neighbourhood businesses.

As Usnavi closes up shop, he discovers that he has sold has a winning lottery ticket for $96,000. Someone’s life is going to change. But whose?
