Forget Me Not

Date: 15 Jan 2020

Canadian marionette master Ronnie Burkett returns to the Sydney Festival to pull the strings on his latest creation, a tender call-to-arms for hope and the enduring power of love.

Welcome to The New Now, where written words are forbidden and sending a love letter is a powerful act of defiance.

For those determined to compose or read a declaration from the heart, there is a way – but first they must undertake a treacherous journey to a secret camp to find She, The Keeper of the Lost Hand, one of the last to retain the knowledge of reading and writing in cursive.

Made with all the care and wit we’ve come to associate with Burkett over the years, Forget Me Not promises a unforgettable experience with the audience onstage during the entire performance, each bringing to life a one-of-a-kind puppet to portray characters in the story and act as a chorus to the unfolding story.

Absurd, romantic, and provocative, Forget Me Not is rich theatrical love letter to our better selves in these increasingly uncivilised times.
