Claudel

Date: 2 Mar 2021

Written and directed by playwright Wendy Beckett and choreographed by Meryl Tankard, Claudel explores the life of the highly talented and rebellious young sculptor Camille Claudel.

Set in 1880s Paris, Claudel questions the notions of genius and madness and the consequences for those who chose lives deemed too different for society to tolerate.

Claudel premiered in March 2018 at the Athénée Theatre in Paris, France followed by a season at Festival OFF d’Avignon.

Imogen Sage makes her Sydney Opera House debut in the title role, Camille Claudel. Christopher Stollery is sculptor Auguste Rodin. Tara Morice, Henrietta Amevor, Mitchell Bourke and recent NIDA graduate Melissa Kahraman also feature.
