Cats Talk Back

Date: 15 Aug 2019

In a theatre, in front of an audience, an arts journalist interrogates a panel of cast members from the Broadway production of Cats.

The result is a free-wheeling discussion that covers auditions, performing experiences, ‘analysis’ of the script, finding their character, becoming a ‘cat’, questions from the audience, and life after a long-running show closes.

Written by Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds) for the New York International Fringe, and based on interviews with erstwhile performers from the Andrew Lloyd Webber mega-hit, this Waiting for Guffman-style spoof dissects the Cats phenomenon and asks what it means to be a performer.

Callum Alexander, Taylor Buoro, Shayne de Groot, Jodine Muir, Daniel Mulholland, Julian Ramundi and David Woodland feature. The event will be moderated by Audrey Journal’s Elissa Blake and Jason Blake.
