Cats Talk Back

Date: 15 Aug 2019

In a theatre, in front of an audience, an arts journalist interrogates a panel of cast members from the Broadway production of Cats.

The result is a free-wheeling discussion that covers auditions, performing experiences, ‘analysis’ of the script, finding their character, becoming a ‘cat’, questions from the audience, and life after a long-running show closes.

Written by Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds) for the New York International Fringe, and based on interviews with erstwhile performers from the Andrew Lloyd Webber mega-hit, this Waiting for Guffman-style spoof dissects the Cats phenomenon and asks what it means to be a performer.

Callum Alexander, Taylor Buoro, Shayne de Groot, Jodine Muir, Daniel Mulholland, Julian Ramundi and David Woodland feature. The event will be moderated by Audrey Journal’s Elissa Blake and Jason Blake on alternate nights.
