Anatomy of a Suicide

Date: 15 May 2019

Anatomy of a Suicide offers an unflinching look at a family afflicted with severe depression and mental illness.

In a theatrical triptych, playwright Alice Birch (Revolt. She Said. Revolt again.) presents three women – mother, daughter and granddaughter – to interrogate the impact of suicide across three generations.

Birch’s script is a detailed examination of human behaviour at its most extreme delivered by a cast of 10 operating in three simultaneously staged time frames.

Anatomy of a Suicide premiered at Royal Court Theatre in London in June 2017 and won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2018.

Director Shane Anthony’s cast includes Andrea Demetriades, Anna Samson, Kate Skinner, Jack Crumlin, Charles Mayer and Contessa Treffone.
